Daen Scheiber opened the doors of Scheiber Design Group in 1984. He was quickly recognized as an up and coming name in Bay Area design and has since had his work featured in the SF Chronicle, House Beautiful and Better Homes and Gardens. HGTV has featured Daen’s work twice on their excellent “Homes Across America” series. Both residential and commercial projects have been completed all over the United States as well as internationally. His successful firm continues to thrive as it enters it’s 30th year.
Daen was born and raised in Marysville, California and grew up on his family’s ranch. His first design project was remodeling the family residence. Daen studied design and fine art at the Art Center in Pasadena and Long Beach State University while continuing a career in dance. His passion for residential design work eventually brought him to San Francisco. He took the real estate market by storm designing innovative contemporary interiors behind traditional Victorian facades.
Always interested in bringing a unique and custom approach to his projects, Daen doesn’t follow trends. He specializes in creating homes of enduring comfort and beauty whether traditional or contemporary in style. In 2011, Daen invited two long time associates to join him as partners at SDG: Annette Zavala and Billy Lynam.
Annette, a Bay Area native, joined SDG in 1997. She is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a degree in Political Science. After several years living and working in both New York and London, her passion for art and design led her to a second degree in Interior Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Within weeks of graduating, she was assisting Daen in his thriving design practice.
Annette became a partner in the firm in 2011. She enjoys working on a wide range of projects from Beaux Art mansions to Lake Tahoe lodges. Her work at SDG has been featured on television and she has twice been invited to participate in the prestigious San Francisco Decorator Showcase House fundraiser. Her favorite design project is her son, Alex, who is studying Music Production at NYU’s Clive Davis School of Music.
Billy came to work for SDG in 2000 and became a partner in the firm in 2011. His enthusiasm, positive energy and clear sense of style have earned him many clients who value his hands on approach to design and his attention to detail. His goal is to create casual, sophisticated interiors that you never want to leave. He has been invited to design several rooms for the San Francisco Decorator Showcase, participated in the Millennium Tower’s ‘Icons of Design’ Showcase and his work has been featured on HGTV’s ‘Homes Across America” series. Billy’s strong grasp of color and texture and his unique sense of style bring a fresh approach to each project.
Before joining SDG, Billy worked for a Danish apparel company for ten years after studying textile design at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. He was also a competitive gymnast and All Around State Champion of New Jersey.
Billy loves to travel and experience new cultures that influence his design. Inspiration comes from the most unexpected places. Playing tennis and running his motley crew of dogs make up a perfect day for him.
